A quick report on this years excellent and memorable trip, ski touring in Kyrgyzstan. With PCR tests successfully taken, we made our way via Istanbul to Bishkek, arriving in time for breakfast and the long drive to Karakol and our base for the next 3 days.
Due to the pandemic, we had various changes to the itinerary this year; spending 3 nights in Karakol, then 3 nights at a new lodge in a local village and finally, 2 nights at a high altitude Yurt Camp that had never been visited by skiers before.
We enjoyed excellent hospitality everywhere we stayed and plenty of big ski days – many thanks to Dennis ‘the machine’ for trail breaking, Sergei for guiding and organising logistics and Anatoli for being such an excellent driver. Pics below give a flavour of the trip:
