Oberland 4000ers

Just back from a great flying visit to the Bernese Oberland with Simon and Matt Theobold – we climbed the Monch yesterday and Jungfrau in good time this morning, arriving back at the station by 11am.  Snow conditions are holding up well over there, with much more good cramponing snow on aretes and faces than around Chamonix at the moment.

Photos below give a flavour of the region – the sheer scale of the Oberland glacier systems (the largest in the Alps) takes some getting used to!
