The snow arrived in abundance this week, with up to a metre of fresh falling in the Vallons de la Meije at La Grave this Friday to round off our week of off piste skiing at La Grave We enjoyed a day tour in the Queyras with skills training en route, found good snow in Les Deux Alpes and were rewarded with 2 great powder days in La Grave itself.
The final day in particular was an unexpected gem; standing in the rain at the lift station, Pierre’s radio finally crackled to life as the team on the mountain announced fresh snow, limited visibility, but far less wind than expected. ‘C’est Ouvert’ he declared – I couldn’t believe our luck!
