Finally getting to explore some great new venues in Sweden this year; specifically on this trip, a new hut based venue ski touring in Jämtland, central Sweden. We took the opportunity after rearranging a trip originally planned for Norway, flying into Trondheim Airport, which is only 1hr from the Swedish border.
After a days warmup tour near the border, we headed on to the roadhead the following morning in order to skin into the hut across frozen lakes and along skidoo trails, to our base for the next 4 days. It’s a truly remote spot, set in a nature reserve in the mountains, with a lot of steep freeride terrain above the farm and touring right from the door in all directions. Here we stayed in a nordic cabin with fantastic food and lovely wilderness skiing – empty hills, plenty of powder in the woods, great views and Lynx tracks in the forest all made for a brilliant experience.
