Off Piste Skiing in the Haute Maurienne – where’s that? Well – it’s south of Val D’Isere and North of La Grave – and the reason you haven’t heard of it is the reason it’s so good: practically no one else has heard of it either, so the off piste skiing remains untracked for days, unlike the bigger resorts nearby!
Great to meet up with Bob and Arthur again (back to ski here for the second year in a row) as well as Jeremy again for an entertaining week. Skiing in a different resort each day, as usual we had the off piste mostly to ourselves, lapping gully lines and powder slopes, as well as enjoying a couple of great lift assisted day tours to get further into the backcountry. The final day was a real treat – with 30cm of fresh powder overnight, we had a superb finish to the week, lapping my favourite hidden powder slope, whilst the rest of the resort carried on as usual around the corner!
