I recently completed a mountaineering course through Alpine Guides and would highly recommend them. Everything from signing up to coordinating logistics and completing the course was incredibly user friendly. My guide was so knowledgeable and wonderful to work with. I had an amazing experience.

I had a great week on Alpine Guides 'Climb Monte Rosa' programme. I particularly like the personalised and tailored services offered by the smaller guiding companies. I learnt a lot and I'm looking forward to consolidating my experience on future trips.

Awesome week learning (excuse the intended pun) the ropes, climbing in the alps. Professional, knowledgable and passionate guide Al. Reassuring for a novice like me! I would recommend Alpine Guides to my friends and will be my first port of call for my next trip.

Had a fantastic time on the alpine mountaineering skills course with Alpine Guides. Al, our guide had a wealth of knowledge and was a brilliant guide. The course was really well thought through on the skills to learn and how best to get through them based on conditions during the week. Hugely enjoyable holiday and couldn’t recommend enough!

It was a unique and extraordinary experience for a beginner climber in the Alps. Alan was a fantastic guide that took me and the other 3 climbers on a journey to learn to walk with crampon, rescuing in crevasses and finally reach a 4017 m peak. It was very well planned from the beginning but also flexible in accordance with the weather. I would do it again

I climbed some Scottish classic routes (Eagle Direct, Mitre Ridge and Square Face) with Al Powell in August. He was well organised, an excellent guide and great company on the hill. We had a greart three days.

I have had many fantastic adventures with Alpine Guides from new routing in Arctic Norway, Alpine couloirs in Chamonix, classic Alpine rock routes, to questing up super classic ice routes like Repentance Super in Cogne. Rich has always guided with calm professional skill, friendliness, style and pure class. The team at Alpine Guides are of the highest caliber and I have no hesitation in recommending them. Thanks guys for some of my best ever mountain days.

I had a very enjoyable week, courtesy of some very well arranged weather and conditions! Lori was an impressive guide, always calm, clear and super efficient, plus he is a really nice guy which is always helpful. Hotel La Balme was nice, I liked that it is a popular spot for climbers. Thanks.

I would just like to say a big thanks to you and Al for the Tech alpine course. Every thing from inquiring about the course to getting home was faultless. Al’s instruction and guiding was amazing. The course was beyond my expectations and I took away plenty of skills. You will no doubt here from me again in the future. Best regards, Andy

Just to say thanks, I had a brilliant time the week before last on the course with Phil. Certainly was more climbing than I have done for a long time! Hope the good weather continues for you out there. Thanks again.

Thank you to Rich for a fantastic week climbing in the Bregagalia. 60 + pitches of quality rock climbing, including the Cassin route on the Piz Badile North face!

Hi Rich and Jon. Thanks for the amazing holiday. It was great to hang out in the chilly mountains and have the whole glacier for ourself. The weather couldn’t have been any better. Scaling the three peaks was challenging yet rewarding. Who needs a warm bed anyway 😉 Rich, thanks for organizing the trip. Everyhing went smoothly and we managed to stick to your plan. Big thanks for your help. Jon, it was a lot of fun to hang out with you. You are an amazing and very trustworthy guide, and a great guy to spend time with. Thanks for keeping me safe. I hope to come back again and spend more time in the mountains, climb more peaks and just enjoy the landscape. Take care and all the best.

Had a great weekend. Mal was very knowledgeable and great fun to be with. We gained a lot of information and confidence from the course. Would certainly recommend to others. Regards

Amazing experience and thanks to the guys that helped us reached our objective! Reached two summits in one week, it was great! In terms of accommodation everything was great, very pleased with the special meals in Chamonix (brilliant) and in the huts that they would make an effort to serve me something vegan.

Dave and Tim are great guys, and we wouldn’t have summited the Matterhorn without them, much less caught the tram back to Zermatt. Byron and I have spent the last couple of days resting and rehydrating in Chamonix. Heading for home tomorrow. Just wondering if we can book the guys for the Monte Rosa in summer of 2017?!?

Gordon Currie

Just to say what an excellent trip we had, it exceeded my expectations. Everything went smoothly from travel to accommodation. All of the accommodation was excellent, clean and neat. But what really stood out was our guide – Dave. As well as being great, easy going company he was able to ensure we got the maximum out of the trip. Although the weather was mixed I was really pleased with objectives achieved – two great peaks in different parts of the Ecrin with some great days in the mountains and rock climbing mixed in. I would not hesitate to book with you again.

I’m back in London: life here is not quite as exciting as climbing the chere couloir! Maybe I’ve acquired a new addiction! I loved it actually, Mark did a great job and made the most of the variable weather to do some great stuff. I also learnt how to climb at pace, or somewhere starting to approach it, at least. The course with Al was fantastic too, and it was great to be guided by people clearly at the top of their game and happy to share their knowledge and skills. If I’m lining up another trip next year or I’m in the Chamonix area again for e.g. skiing, I’ll definitely get in touch.

The accomodation, the organisation, Al’s guiding and the route choices were all top notch and I felt like the week led-up well to the Gran Paradiso. I came away feeling proficient in the ropework etc, mainly as Al encouraged us to do it ourselves where possible once we’d learned the initial skill, which is the way I learn best.

Please would you be kind enough to pass on my thanks to Dave for a thoroughly enjoyable and constructive trip. Dave was fantastic, and I would have no hesitation in recommending him and your course to others with similar interests in future.

Hi Rich – just waiting for our plane home after an epic week.  We had an amazing time, achieving things that were completely new challenges to us and we really loved the week. Just the right balance of challenge, learning, recovery and practice.  The chalet in les bossons was fab, very comfortable and great food and staff.  Lori was great. Clearly very experienced and made us feel very safe and well looked after. He was good at getting to know you and a very good communicator both in terms of what to do and learning new skills.

I am writing to thank you all and in particular Jonny for a truly exceptional week in the Alps. The course more than achieved my main aims of learning some of the skills required for Alpine mountaineering to be used on future trips. It also got me right in among some peaks and gave me a great experience of the Alps. What was particularly impressive was that despite the weather, Jonny managed to put together an outstanding and varied itinerary with every day adding to the experience. I will definitely be returning to the Alps in the future to take my climbing to the next level both with friends and with guides. I will be looking no further than yourselves for future guiding and I will also be fully recommending Alpine Guides to anyone looking for help in the mountains.

I had the most fantastic week – snow conditions you can only dream of!! Lori was fantastic, patient, so passionate about his sport and an all round great guy.  I always felt safe with him, we had a few laughs along the way and he was supportive when I got a touch of altitude sickness at the Magherita hut, without fussing about it.  The food in the huts was incredible – especially at the Gneffti and Margherita huts.

I really enjoyed the course. Al was a superb guide – I learned a lot in a very short time and the info and choice of routes were pitched just right. The course gave me what I need to climb independently in the Alps but I’d also be interested in the Chamonix Alpinist week next year.  Accommodation is great – I’m still here! Logistics good too – no slack time, no hanging around. And the amount of information you guys provide is just right – plenty of guidance available.

Thank you Rich for organising this trip – it was fantastic! Dave and I enjoyed it a lot; Stuart is an excellent guide, a good teacher and very experienced – I will be very happy to go to the mountains with him again.  The hotel was also very good and value for money.

I just wanted to say thank you very much to yourself and Al for our recent Alpine Essentials course. The content of the course was spot on and Al was a fantastic teacher with a great teaching style. I feel like I have taken so many skills away from the three days and can’t wait for more alpine trips in the near future.

Homeward bound after an amazing week in Chamonix with Rich. Kicked off with a bang, climbing the Frendo Spur in very wintery conditions, a rest day(!) rock climbing at Gietroz, back up to the Refuge des Cosmiques for a day of mixed climbing followed by the Contamine-Mazeaud on the Tacul. Then an another rock day swinging leads on the Vipere au Pied, Barberine. Cheers!
