Summary
This is a wild and remote ski tour with superb scenery and few other people around. The tour is long and intricate, traversing the French-Italian border. At least one night is spent in an unmanned hut, so we'll be taking food and stoves along. Stable weather conditions are required to complete the circuit around Monte Viso.
We offer this itinerary as a private guiding special - with dates by arrangement from March to April . Prices are as per our private guiding rates, up to a maximum of 6 skiers per guide.

Food and Accommodation
We run all of our courses on a guiding and instruction only basis. The guide will book all valley and hut accomodation for the week, which you pay for direct as we go along.

Travel

Full travel details are provided with your joining instructions. The Queyras National Park is most easily reached via a flight to Turin or Grenoble Airports, then a hire car. It's also possible to reach Mt Dauphin station by train via Gap.

Ability and Experience
You need to be a good off piste skier (see ski ability level 3-5), with previous multiday ski tours already under your belt in order to join this tour. It is a strenuous and commiting route (where we need to carry food for an unmanned hut night) and includes 7-9 hour days with some big (1000m+) climbs, so you can expect to be skinning for 3-6 hours a day (see fitness level 3-4).

Equipment
We will supply you with a full kit list. You are responsible for bringing personal clothing, a rucsac and ski mountaineering skis, boots and kit (local hire of avalanche safety kit is available, but not skis and boots). We are delighted to be working on this tour with Backcountry UK, who provide excellent service and advice as a leading retailer of ski mountaineering equipment in the UK.
