An action packed week of glacier skiing and technical descents around the Chamonix valley for good off piste skiers after a taste of real 'all mountain' skiing.
From the top of the lift systems we will be using climbing and ski mountaineering equipment to access back bowls and big verticals around the range. As this is a flexible week, we able to travel to other areas if necessary to make the best use of daily conditions.
We offer this itinerary as a private guiding special - with dates by arrangement from mid January into April. Prices are as per our private guiding rates, up to a maximum of 6 skiers per guide.
To get a feel for what's involved, why not take a look at a few video clips: movie 1, movie 2, movie 3, or a recent trip report.
Course Base We spend the week in and around the Chamonix valley, traveling to other areas on day trips if appropriate. Chamonix is easily reached by a flight to Geneva and an airport transfer, both of which are bookable online.

Fitness Off piste skiing and ski mountaineering are strenuous activities, which require good levels of fitness. You can expect to be skinning and climbing for 1-2 hours some days to get the best runs. (see fitness level 2+). We advise you to prepare well in advance with regular training and ideally some skiing.
Skiing Ability You need to be a strong off piste skier, able to make controlled turns in all snow types and be comfortable on slopes of 40 degrees (see: ski ability levels 3-5). Although some ski mountaineering experience is preferable, good skiers can usually pick up these skills with extra coaching at the start of the week.
Equipment We will supply you with a full kit list. You are responsible for bringing personal clothing, a rucsac and ski mountaineering skis, boots and kit (local hire is available). We are delighted to be working on this tour with Back Country UK, who provide excellent service and advice as a leading retailer of ski mountaineering equipment in the UK.
