Modern rock climbing has evolved from it's mountain roots into a stylish and popular sport, practiced worldwide. Whether you want to try a UK rock climbing course for the first time, improve your personal technique, or head off on the adventure of a lifetime - we can help you achieve these goals in expert company. (see - rock climbing photos) Rock Program Our UK rock climbing courses are based in the popular and accessible climbing areas of the Peak District, North Wales, Yorkshire and the Lake District. All experience levels are catered for including scrambling courses, introductory rock climbing courses, multipitch leading and performance coaching. The majority of our courses run during the Spring (May - June) and Autumn (Sept - Oct) ie either side of our main summer season in the Alps. If our advertised dates don't suit, we can also arrange bespoke courses from April - October in the location of your choice. Specials and Private Guiding In addition to classic British outings such as the Skye Ridge traverse, we run a selection of trips to great sunrock destinations abroad. A significant part of our program also involves custom itineraries for private groups and individuals - these are either personalised versions of our standard courses or private guiding trips and special itineraries both in the UK and furthur afield. Past trips have included classic and hard rock weekends, sea stack climbing weeks, alpine preparation courses, big wall seminars and rock and ice road trips abroad to name but a few. So if you've an idea or particular requirement, just contact us at any time to discuss your personal itinerary. Rock Climbing Course Suitability To help you select an appropriate course, the table below shows fitness and experience levels needed for our various rock climbing courses and holidays. Rock climbing requires good flexibility and balance as much as outright strength. For our more advanced courses however, you will need to be climbing regularly to get the most from the course. We suggest you a look at what's on offer, then contact us if you have furthur questions or queries about particular itineraries, or whether you've got the necessary experience - as a quick chat with one of our team will help confirm if it's the right one for you. Important: Please remember, you need both the required fitness level and climbing experience level in order to enjoy a particular course - as our guides have to judge your abilities before embarking on any serious ascent (current weather and mountain conditions are also taken into account). If they decide that a particular objective should not be attempted, then an appropriate alternative will always be offered. (If your fitness or skills are in doubt however, we may have to exclude you from certain activities. It is very unusual for us to do this, but it can occur if you are not realistic about your current experience or fitness levels - or you do not prepare sufficiently beforehand.) Food and Accommodation We run all of our rock courses on a guiding & instruction only basis to allow you maximum flexibility with accomodation budgets. A good range of recommended local accommodation options are included in all course joining instructions. You must arrange these directly as they are not included in the course fee. Travel Full travel and joining instructions are included in each course info pack - we are happy to arrange pick ups or coordinate transport as required. For all scheduled courses the guide will have a vehicle available for transport during the course. For private guiding itineraries you may use the guides vehicle if required, but you are responsible for meeting the fuel costs incurred. We all started our climbing careers on the varied rock outcrops of the UK and continue to climb on local crags at every available opportunity. Days off and evenings after work see us out to the cliffs enjoying a little more climbing. On our holidays we explore further afield, from Africa to the Arctic - always searching out new venues and often exploring new lines.
Over the years we have been responsible for the first ascents of literally dozens of major big wall routes - both free and aid - from Greenland and Baffin Island to Patagonia and the Himalayas.
