This is a weekend of intensive coaching for established climbers - whether you are struggling to break a grade barrier, nervous on lead or looking for expert guidance on other aspects of your personal climbing - we design a tailor made program for you to work on and improve specific areas of weakness, as well as suggesting mental approaches and training strategies that will help you to achieve your personal goals.
Please Note: that all performance coaching courses are booked on a tailor made basis, as per private guiding rates and conditions - so you are assured of your own private guide at all times.
Prior to the course we ask for detailed information about your current climbing performance, in order to plan an appropriate coaching program. Improving rock climbing confidence or personal leading grade is a common focus, but we can also cover topics as diverse as as alpine climbing skills and big wall climbing techniques if required.
NB As these weekends are booked on a private guiding basis, we recommend that you come along with a regular climbing partner in order to gain maximum benefit from the course. In particular, lead coaching sessions can only be run with two people in the group - as a belayer in required whilst the guide is coaching up on the crag alongside the leader.
Course VenuesOur performace coaching weekends are available in either North Wales or the Lake District, both of which offer a wide variety of high quality crags and climbing over the weekend.
Sample itinerary We tailor each course to your current experience and aspirations. Typical areas covered may include:
More effective gear placement
Advanced rope techniques
Performance lead coaching sessions
Overcoming psychological barriers
Training and development strategies
Self rescue skills etc.
Just let us know where you are currently at with your climbing and where you would like to be, so we can put you on the right track to getting there.
Fitness Rock climbing requires good flexibility and balance, as much as outright strength. General outdoor fitness (see fitness level 1-2) is required on this course, in addition to specific rock climbing fitness. Regular visits to your local wall or crag prior to the course are recommended for training and preparation.
Experience In order to join this course you need some prior outdoor leading experience and must be able to belay safely and securely.
EquipmentAll communal safety equipment (ropes, lead rack etc) is provided by us, but we also encourage you to bring along your own personal gear in order to get the maximum benefit from various coaching sessions.. You are expected to come equiped with personal clothing and climbing equipment.
